View from the Empire State Building in New York City. Shot using a wide angle zoom lens at 19mm with shutter speed of 10 seconds.
I wasn't allowed to take my tripod with me past the security check point on the ground floor, so for a lot of my photos up there, I either braced my camera against the metal fence, or placed it on the edge of the concrete balcony (with the strap still around my neck of course!) for long exposure shots.
It was really cold and windy that night, and my fingers were pretty numb most of the time I was taking pictures! lol But I preferred not to wear my gloves in order to handle the camera better. My companions couldn't take the cold and stayed inside the gift shop, but I was enjoying the view too much to join them. |

Nice shot. I faced the same problem as you, taking pictures at night with no tripod and find a place to stick my camera on. But I can see you used a wide angle that gives a rouned form of the horizon.
It is well done.
Excellent shot, a great story... is so true that our physical considerations should be left behind for great creative endeavours.
I love the way the light seems to grow as you get further out. Is such a great contrast in picture from your sea picture...
Great work.
people who lives there seems to have a saturate life, haven't they ? And you knew how to catch it, you show us that like the night know how to show us what sort of saturate life we have ;)
Hi Cy! I'm looking forward to taking the exact same shot when I go there soon - I think you did a really good job, especially considered that you couldn't bring your tripod (silly rule, hope it's changed). Thanks for sharing!!
This is great - if for no reason other than the fact that you got an 8-sec exposure to be this clear without a tripod, and in the cold and wind! Magaling!
The wide-angle definitely works for this kind of vista. I want one.
