[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Groomsman, a moment outside to talk about the wedding! I love photographing people in a natural light setting. Preferrable without direct sunlight, but it can happen!
I took this moments before the wedding and the groomsman were having quite a good time outside talking.
Converted from RAW, then to BW, Levels and sharpening! I cropped out a bunch of things around the men, just focusing tightly on their faces. Hope you like it!
Linda

Hi Linda
what a wonderful group! I love the tight crop as well as the bw ... all the different expressions/emotions..

Tricia

The light seems very natural here. These kind of "moment" photos works many times so much better than posed ones.

natural light is the best
or u must make glamourshoots and use a softbox
but i think black and white is here the best
well done LInda

Hi Linda,
I think it looks really good, because some wedding shots are so dark, you can't tell the difference between the tux and the mens faces. The natural light brings out more details sometimes also-doesn't flush out color and stuff. I like the look on the guy's face in the front of the picture- he looks sort of nervous. :)
Thanks for sharing!
Leanne

Hi Linda ,
Here you manage the light very well. Good choise for black and white. Love their different facial expressions.

I like the contrast of facial expressions, and the way the young man near the center is looking away, concentrating on something else, while the man just left of him is smiling casually at you. And I agree! Natural lighting is just the best, especially softer or just a little diffused, it works wonders in portraits. The black and white is great too because not only does it make the shot classic and timeless, it also sent the message right away that this was taken at a wedding. I could tell before I even read the note at all, so good job with conveying context and theme in a photo. The DOF works to make the men pop out against the background and the lighting hitting from the left of course works to illuminate their faces. Now, as much as I like the horizontal cropping for this I think that the young man in the foreground is a bit too centered, so I might crop off the right about an inch so that there's still focus on their faces while he is decentered. I also sense a slight tilt in the shot, but it's not too big of a deal. Excellent clarity and detail, it's really sharp, I feel like I am standing there with you! TFS!

I much prefer natural light too, Linda. And I've been experimenting very recently with portable reflectors: they can make up for backlighting and direct natural light where you want it.
Love this capture: very natural

True, very true. Natural light beats almost everything when it comes to portraiture. I like it! Nice b&w effect, it fits the "groomsmen" mood, especially the nervousness before a wedding. A collage would have been funny, this one in bw and another one after the wedding in color...to show the stages of a wedding. Just an idea :D. Their expressions are very good and I like the lighting...specifically the amount because it is not too dark to look sad and not too bright to take away from the restless mood of "before the wedding".

Great work, Linda :D

Hi Linda,
the natural lighting works here very well to capture the different emotion of this group of men. The b/w tones are excellent and the POV is very nice.
TFS..Sky

I think natural light is the best for everything:) Very nice B&W Linda. Love the centered guys expression, looks like he's a bit nervous/excited...while the left guy looks cool and collective. Very nice shot here Linda. Sorry for not getting to it sooner...haven't been on much as of lately. Nice weather has been keeping me busy:)

Lyndon

Love it, Linda! Well done for this special occasion. It would go well in their family albums as they just look so HANDSOME! TFS.
