The Nursery

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| If the developers have their way this will soon be nothing but a memory...Progress and development are fine and necessary but the rape and total destruction of an ecosystem is not..Investors and developers are swarming the Island with dollar signs in their eyes...Why not just set the forms and concrete the whole Island and erect a series of canal lots, restaurants, souvenir shops and condos?...Why not?...Because these delicate ecosystems are necessary for the survival of the Galveston Bay System and World-wide, the survival of all living things...This is a fragile nursery/hatchery area for shrimp, crabs, fish and all sorts of aquatic life not to mention the mammals and birds that call this pristine area home...Areas like these MUST be preserved for the survival of the Planet... |

Oh that makes me SO MAD Jim! I can't believe these idiots are going to do this! Anyone who has EVER lived down there knows that NOTHING is sacred on Galveston Island! Build all you want, the wind, the sea, the salt, the hurricanes will wipe you off the face of the map! Why can't they just leave it alone??? Great shot of this heron! Nice notes too...

I'll be back......
This picture oozes stillness and calm. Simple and beautiful. But the world won't be happy until there are no more trees or green areas left. Don't you know they need a new 7-11 right there?
