A Day's End

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Taken from Gas Works Park in Seattle, Washington. On the last night of my trip my brother, Maggie and I went to the park to play frisbee. As the sun set, a few clouds low in the sky lit up brilliantly with soft glows of orange and yellow. At the same time, clouds farther away were getting darker, and the contrast between them was amazing. The brightness of the sky left the grassy hill and the people on it very dark, which I think really made for an amazing picture. Benches, a man on a bicycle, and even a photographer and a tripod are all visible atop the hill. The picture really reminds me of how I felt at the time being there at that park ... the air was getting chilly, but the sun still felt warm... it was a Sunday evening, and I got the feeling that everyone at the park was in a lazy Sunday evening state of mind ... trying to get in a little bit more fun before the work week started.

A brief history of the park, taken from cityofseattle.net --
This 20 acre point on Lake Union was cleared in 1906 to construct a plant to manufacture gas from coal - later converted to crude oil. Import of natural gas in the 1950's made the plant obsolete. The city acquired the site for a park in 1962. The park was opened to the public in 1975. The boiler house has been converted to a Picnic Shelter with tables, fire grills and an open area. The former exhauster-compressor building, now a children's play barn, features a maze of brightly painted machinery.

Maybe a title could be " A Day's End".
I like the clouds, the color of them, and the silhouettes. Was the hill like that, or did you try to rotate the picture any to see if it looked different?
