Sentimental picture, sentimental note. I know how you feel, Chuck. Brillant juxtaposition with the jail-like fence against the helpless and 'naked' feel of the tree. Very nice light, and beautifully composed.
Cheers
Otto
Hey Chuck
I really feel relaxed looking at your photo
Me behind the fence.. protected that way for my ex-Mother in Law..:-) lovely lighting, colors and POV are great. Very good sharpness.

A nice old tree and a well composed image. And the fence gives the impression that we (the onlookers) are fenced in rather than the tree that seems to be free in the outer world.
Regards,
Tibi
Excellent contrast between the tree and the bars - in terms of colours, shapes and context. Reading your note though its hard to know whether the fence is there to keep nature in or to keep man out.....
Thanks for sharing

What Kind of tree is this Chuck?? It almost looks like a cedar...or a very old sycamore! Very nice tones..too bad about the fence, although you have incorporated it well into the shot!

Hey Chuck,
Growing up my brother and I would race on our bikes to school while my Mom drove behind us, and every morning we'd pass trees just like these, but these were enormous. We call them Bloekomboome.
When I was six, I filled a bottle of water for my brother at the school tap, and one of these trees fell over just a few feet away from me. The most amazing sound, I remember that, and fear.
And yes, that line bu Forster is basic but perfect. I like this image, I just never knew how to comment. TFS!
Biance.

But at least it's been returned to nature!
Euclyptus tree? What country was this photo taken in?
