[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This river is located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Its my favorite place to shoot. There are so many places there that you are constantly finding something new. This was taken last weekend on an outing with my family.
Bless their hearts they are so patient with me when I am shooting my landscapes.

I hope you enjoy this.


Technical information: Overcast to sunny at times. Tripod. 25 sec exposure. UV filter. Linear Polarizer between ND 4, and ND 8. Remote Shutter release.

Post Processing: gamma +1, saturation +1. Cropped framed resized with photofiltre.

I will try to visit your photos as soon as I can. But for now I am extremly limited for my time. Please be patient with me.

Just remember the photo and the experience at the moment of the photo is what it all breaks down to in the end. If I can just get one person to feel what I felt when I took a particular photo, to hear the rushing water, to feel the cold mist upon your face, to live in my moment that I have brought to you...then to me I have suceeded.
In all my photos I am striving for the truly honest photo. With the barest minimum of post processing. (nature doesnt postprocess when we photograph her). With the exception of a possible increase in saturation I will only be resizing or cropping the photo.

And most importantly of all...... THANK ALL OF YOU for taking the time to visit my photo. And should you feel drawn to leave a comment or critique....Please feel free and know they are all appreciated.

Wow James... Beautiful!! The green colours are fantastic and the river looks so soft and white. It's just a paradise :)

Another awesome photo with just the perfect technique. I really love your low POV and the silky texture of the water. I would love to have such a piece of nature close to my home. I do get the feeling behind this photo and can imagine the feel it brought to you when taking it. I call it being in the zone and you know you got a winner on hand when you are there.

I love your picture...and I know how hard it is to get such results. IMHO it's a little too dark, maybe a bit of PP would help. Water should be light and for me it feels heavy.
Keep doing like this mate!!!

Hi James,

Nice to see another addition of your waterfall and river series. This is one of the best so far to date. I have one question though, how on Earth did you do it with 26 seconds exposure? Man, i tried it with my DSC H-1 using only 1 sec exposure and the whole stuff got overexposed. ;)lol..have a nice day.

Rich and sumptuous greens and that wonderful silky water effect - photographing waterfalls is definately something you have a knack for. Great stuff!

Standing in the river - always a good place to be.

This is a fine shot, the way the rocks receed on the left of frame is particularly nice - good shapes, light and shadow and good detail too - and hey! I just realised, A DSC R1 - don't see too many of those about - but I'm very familiar with standing in rivers with one of these beasts - great machine for this sort of thing, of course, due to the top mounted screen - but you know that!
