of all the self portraits i've taken, i think this one is probably my favorite. it's dark and mysterious but i still see small pieces of myself...it's like when i'm fighting depression and everything seem so bleak, but i can still recognize bits of who i am and i'm able to pull myself back into the light. anyway, i suppose i'm rambling now.

I like all this black surrounding you... creating a mystery. Creative and well achieved.
As you say - dark, and enigmatic - and not at all rambling! I like the effect of the almost-disembodied top, with almost no hint of the wearer except the slight glint of one shoulder and the silhouette of your head.
Intriguing and creative!

I do not think it's "rambling" at all, I find that photos, especially self-portraits, are the strongest when the photographer really feels her or his mood while taking the photo, really expresses it through a photo. This photo really does convey a strong mood, especially with the very dark shadows everywhere, and the spot of soft light right behind your head, only revealing the upper right outline of it. Excellent the way there are barely any hints of your face except for tiny highlights on your nose and cheekbone. And then you have the dynamic quality of your white shirt. I just love the dark lines of shadows created by the folds and wrinkles of your shirt. Great balance and compo with you off-center, your shirt balances with the bright spot behind your head. It's incredibly mysterious and very introverted and introspective. Perfect for a self-portrait ;) TFS!

Hi Jenifer,
This is a very different self portrait, some might say too dark but i must agree i like the mystery it could almost be classed as a tease. Well done. keep it up
