Inspired by a fellow poster, whoes work I love. Afer not posting for a while, I became concerned and sent an email to find all was well, but it got me thinking about this image and wanting to depict someone shut off from depression & people come by put can't seem to help. It took me a while to find a location to do this image, as I needed a run down house that I could hang around and shoot a sunset and some night shots & also have access to the interior. The blue light was several exposure shot with a small flash then shifted the color to blue in ps and blended using lighten mode & layer masks. No clouds that day, so I shot a photo the following day where there were some clouds in a different location & dropped them in.

Hi Chuck, i'd of preffered not to see the blurred figure in the shot looking like he has just left the building, but the blue light of the interior and the warm light of the exterior gel in perfect harmony along with the solitude figure looking down trodden and over-worked. great PP work as always, the sky you dropped in looks great with the rest of the image. Well done Chuck.

Dean.

hmmm... looks like I have already critiqued this photo today... *s*

Beautifully presented. I like the colour saturation is ok for me. Slightly disturbing edges of the roof - they should be a bit softened to make smoother transition to sunset sky.

Hi Chuck

I like the motion blur of the man running out of the house, contrasting with the sedentary silhouette inside. Well seen!

Oh man, how I can relate to this! Having struggled with depression most of my life, I have learned that isolation is deadly. When I am in a bad place, it seems others try to reach me and can't....so today, I make an effort, even when I feel rotten, to make myself talk to someone..anyone...because my head is like a bad neighborhood, You don't want to go in there alone!
Superb shot here Chuck! I feel it!

Beautiful result, Chuck. When I saw it the following quotation passed through my mind:
"The witch girl who lives by the bend in the river is said to keep a fart in a bottle.
It's a poisonous fart, green as cabbage, loud as a shotgun; and after moonset or before moonrise, her hut is illuminated by its pale mephitic glow. For a time, passerby thought she had television." (from "Moonlight Whoopee Cushion Sonata" by Tom Robbins).

perfect shot.......tfs

Hi Chuck,
I am just amazed about the pefect mood you were able to create here. The work that took to create this photo and the thoughts behind it are very inspiring and is already worth the WOW factor. The result is simply stunning. A very cool photo indeed.

Fascinating bit of work, Chuck. Especially nice control of light and shadow, mastery of the flash, and that wonderful, fragmented span of cloudy sky. Very fine planning and execution. Thanks for this!

Jim

Excellent work again. Sometimes, one doesn't realize it's pp work unless reading the note.
Cheers

Incredible work, Chuck. At first I took it to mean that the figure at the door turned away without getting a response from the person inside, but the door is open, so I'm thinking the guy inside is reverting back to his true feelings after dealing with the visitor superficially.
Way to keep us thinking,
Karen

Superb PP work, Chuck! In our world we all know of someone who suffers from one or another of many disorders because artists are well-known sufferers. This is a superb depiction of the concern and frustration one the one and the difficulty of the other.
