Here I am leaning OVER the bow of the M/V Mesabi Miner to get this shot....
I like the way the bow was pushing or displacing the water....

Water Displacement... taken from wikipedia.com

Vessels such as naval ships and icebreakers are often measured by their displacements. The unit of measure can be long tons or metric tons depending on the country of origin. The ship can be measured in light condition, fully loaded, or normal (usually fully loaded, but with about two-thirds of fuel and unconsumables). For official purposes, the Washington Naval Treaty introduced the standard displacement, which was the displacement fully loaded but with no fuel or reserve feed water

PP work... auto adjust.. (as always) no crop but BIG frame!!! :)

Tricia

~~~EDIT~~~
I placed a photo taken 3 years ago on a different boat at night... Hmmm wonder why that one never made TL!!
Hey Tricia,
Great eye on this one--I love the curved layers and how they change going up the frame. Makes the water look like it's acting like a solid . . .
Take care,
Karen
like Hans (minus the hash marks)I had to look several times, good thing they have notes and now I see this is a well displaced photo lol.
Great angle on this Tricia, the sharp detail and being able to get part of the hull in the photo.
Was someone holding onto you?
Hey Tricia , neat shot! Thats one I've never done, usually I'm on the bridge deck looking behind the ship...I like how this turned out..it almost looks like a water fountain ? The water has some really neat textures..nice color!
Hi Tricia,
The detail in this is wonderful. The meditative arch like shapes interact so uniquely with the torrent that has created them. Wonderful.
take care,
John
I'm listening to "One Way" by The Levellers now. It goes amazingly well with this picture, Tricia. (The rythm anyway ;o)). Very appealing image. I just find the brown/red bow a little distracting and out-of-place here. You should try turning it into dark blue, to (sort of) match the colour on top of the picture. Then, print it and hang it on a wall... it's well worth it! From the thumb I thought you had captured frost on a pole ore something...
Excellent work.
TFS
i love that view on a ship! i can literally sit and stare over the bow of a moving ship for hours, its so cool to see all that water being shoved and all the noise it creates, TFS, ~SAM
