Atlanta's "Downtown Connector". This is two Interstate Highways running together through the middle of the city: I75 and I85. 3PM and traffic is already starting to pickup. Soon it will be bumper to bumper - all lanes in both directions. But still it will move at a good pace, unless there's a "fender bender".

I have printed this in a 16x20 size and it could go larger. On that you can see the famous Varsity Restaurant, The Olympic Torch, GA Tech's Coleseum, Wachovia and RBC Banks, Savannah College of Arts and Design, Victoria Station, and more.

Interestingly, I've only been able to find about 6 human beings. Scarce evidence of life on this planet. :-) We've been taken over by vehicles.

I took this from the top of the Peachtree Plaza Hotel.

Hope you enjoy,
Reid

Hello Reid. So many lanes and cars. Amazing how our cities have been overtaken by vehicles. I can imagine what is like on this highway at rush hour. Good perspective to capture the snake running in the middle of the city. Soft colours and sharpness but overall a good image with an interesting view. Thanks Reid.

Good morning Reid

Love the title its really well suited.. very busy and interesting image.. how many lanes of traffic? good grief I think if I had to drive in that lot I would get out and hail a Taxi.

Great capture Reid, lots going on and a superb POV

TFS regards Helen

Hi Reid, love this POV, this is a good representation of how the roads work in the USA, it was very similar scenes in Arizona back in June but I found the roads, although very busy at times very easy to navigate, especially compared to here in the UK, I think the difference is were only allowed to overtake in the outer lanes were as over there you can overtake in any lane which saves traffic grinding to a halt like it does here.

As said good POV, and clear and sharp, what more could we want. TFS

Dean.

We were here for the 96 olympics so I enjoy this slice of Atlanta. What have we done to ourselves to have created this kind of "mess". Glad I don't have to deal with this traffic on a daily basis. Well captured - good composition. TFS

Dear Reid.

Fascinating shot..
A perfect composition of the roads...
Salutes dear friend.
Enjoy the days.

Hi Reid,
I've driving down that road many times, but never seen it from this angle. In all these years not much has changed. Still packed with cars and no one walking around.

Niek

Hi Reid,
Great panoramic shot of this "Aorta" (great name for it :-) The details of he cars and buildings makes it an attractive view. Maybe a tad more saturation improves the photo. Nevertheless a magnificent picture my friend!

Dear Reid,
a nice panoramic view!
your title is "Aorta", it is just so, but in my feeling this highway looks like a BIG RIVER or a GIGANTIC SNAKE.
dynamic flow and graceful curve are impressive. and the green woods surrounding the city is good.
thank you,
Akihisa

The photo is enough sharp to say... Let's play a game... Count the vehicles on it... Unfortunately for me.. i don't have the time to count it!
The perspective is impressive.. It look like the road dance on a wave :)

Wow - what a freeway! A great capture, you certainly had a prime location to get this shot! Good POV, crisp and clear.
Well done

Fascinating image! Superb PoV (a helicopter?) and it is indeed interesting that there is hardly a human in sight here.
Our own aorta is currently undergoing some severe construction at the core (the area where it is most needed, most used, and of longest standing), so it looks rather more chaotic (and has for many months with many more to come).
superb posting, Reid.

Dizzying heights - I concur with your note, but then: where would the people go? There are only roads for cars in this view, no promenades or places to go unless you drive....
Cheers

Hello Reid

Reminds me of Bangkok. (The view from Baiyoke Tower) A superb vantage point & composition, with good lead-in lines provided by the freeway. Tfs!

Hi Reid, When in hotels I always go have a look at the highest floor to see what the views are - but never had such a good overview as you have here. It looks great, however being in that commute everyday would be hard.
We once landed in Atlanta on the old part of the airfield and had to go to the new part for the connecting flight.
We must have walked for an hour and then we understood that there was a kind of underground system/train to get you there...well after a long flight a walk is a good thing.
I think there are 2 people crossing the bridge... but then you made a picture of a highway, no people allowed.
