[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I think a strong sky adds a lot to an image. Neutral Density Filters can do a lot to improve a sky, or they can be enhanced in post processing.

In this image of the sky, I have applied a Scott Kelby technique which uses the gradient tool, foreground to transparent. The density, angle, and area can all be controlled. Here I kind of went all out. :-)

I'll post the original in a WS.

Hope you enjoy,
Reid

Hello Reid,
Excellent details in the cloud formation, very well exposed!
The sky is the motif indeed!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Reid,
I like the vertical composition with the emphazis on the sky. The PP technique to brighten the landscape is very good, but it did cause you to loose some of the shadows and became a bit flat. I am not sure if you shoot in RAW, but with two different exposed RAW conversions and a merge the result would have been better. Ofcourse a grad ND filter would be even better or bracketing.

Niek

Hi there Reid

This is absolutely superb, the sky is really amazing your PP work is excellent as it looks brilliant but not over the top.. just really clear and sharp.

Nice choice of portrait style here too

TFS regards Helen

I like the very sharp sky!
Best regards, Daniel

Dear Reid Stone,
surely your this work is interesting and impressive. but sorry I like your original shot in WS better than after proccessing. because I feel the original photo is natural and near my sight, and it has a kind of space to imagine many things in it. this is only my feeling.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hi Reid,

Works just great - you made it into a stunning picture this way.

We are not so far away... I notice me too how beautifull are the clouds... I did a roadtrip to Sherbrooke. Don't have time to look at the compute but i take a couple of the montains and clouds... Not sure it's that same nice precision as it was throught the car's windshield as we rolling...
Over your beach it please me!
But i just saw the date is not recent... I have a doubt as we are in September. But it could be.. As a teen i was enjoy so much swiming that one summer i extend my swimming on the lake till 2 october. I surprised a few and actually i don't believe i would do it again... I prefer hot water lol!

I like the sky so much, whatever is on the beach doesn't rally matter all that much to me. I could even see that as a horizontal with over 80% sky - against the third rules, but I know a very good landscape artist who does just that!
Cheers
Otto
