Mill Creek Basin Trail
Hollowell Park
Rocky Mountain National Park

“The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can, pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.”
~ J.R.R. Tolkien

The Mill Creek Basin trail is one of Andrew's favorite places to walk .. especially walking back down the hill like we are here. It is a quiet trail along a bubbling stream through a thick aspen grove. It does not really go anywhere (which is why it is so quiet). It is mostly a connecting trail for some of the more major trail systems.

We approach another autumn of walking together in the Rockies. It is my favorite season .. the colors, the crisp air. Tomorrow Andrew and I will go out again. At home at my desk I always wonder .. for how much longer will he and I have these moments together? .. we are both getting older. We are getting close to some big life transitions ..

but when I am there I am so overwhelmed with the moment those thoughts rarely ever creep in. A time to treasure. If it never happens again at least it happened. Each day is unique and most are followed by tomorrow.

hello John,
I like your POV here, looking up to your happy son and that beautifully coloured foliage that is like a golden halo.
regards
Bev

There's a very strong sense of determination in that face, John
Great colours, good composition (I'd have cropped a bit off the right side, but that is just me), great use of light and shadow
