[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Some people are going to hate this photo but that is not why I gave it that title.

This is a "portrait" of my camera by my camera. This is the camera which I am constantly complaining about! :)

I *love* it because without it I would have nothing to post on TE or TL. It has allowed me to be creative and share my ideas with other people.

I *hate* it because I am often disapointed with the results and frustrated with it's limitations. That is why I am so appologetic in my postings. ;)

In general it is an excellent point and shoot camera but hopefully I will move to the next level in the near future.

Suggestions and comments welcome.
Thanks
JP

i like this picture.

i know your pain. i had a nice little "point and shoot" camera up until about a year ago.
then my hubby got me my Z1. even though it's a great camera, but i want a bigger and better.
just save your pennies. there are nicer ones out there now that are affordable.

Great photo - well done title, oh do I know those feelings. Only patience will save us

Hi JP,
oh.. love/hate relationship!! But you're doing quite well with this 'point and shoot'.
What I like of this shot is your serious (angry ?) face hide behind the camera.. showing that you definitly don't like it ;-)
Still, well done!!
Marisa

The camera is an instrument; the most important part in photography is... the photographer. You just proved it with this very candid and well done shot!

just like me ... with my ixus 430 ... but i saved some money and i'll buy a EOS 350D (Rebel XT in US) before summer ...
oh yes, the photo is great
points tomorrow

jp, i totally relate to your dilemma...after joining treklens, i found that i "outgrew" my coolpix in just a couple of months and had to move on to bigger and better things :)

i love this black and white you created - this photo almost looks platinum!!

No worris Jean, I had a S230 before I upgraded to the now stolen 300D. If you can shoot well with a point and shoot, then you can shoot extradinary photos with a DSLR. However, a point and shoot is not bad for street photography though. It's just hard to meter for more creative and artistic photos.

Hi !
When I saw the title and your hands on the foreground, I thought of the famous movie titled "The night of the hunter" in which the main character had written love on one of his hands and hate on the other one.
Love and hate are very strong feelings that can meet sometimes.
As for your shot, I think the idea is good and I don't love it but don't hate it neither.
Just to say that it is not necessary to love a shot to post it, the important is what you intend to express spontaneously.
The mood and the message are sometimes more important than the technique.
And in this one, there is a special mood, a real spontaneity and I like a lot the idea you made a portrait of your camera and not a self-portrait.
Do you know the website : Mirror project" where people only post self-portraits in reflections ?
Looking forward for your nexts posts.
Sylvie

This is a very interesting shot. Thought provoking and I love how you can see yourself above the camera, slightly out of focus but easily distinguished. Very good depth.
