This shot is dedicated to Cindy, who has lovingly cared for Amberina in her stables for sixteen years or so . . .

There are many tears today at my house. We found out that while we were on vacation last week, our friend Amberina was lost to a sudden and severe illness. My husband and I have not been on a horse since 2001, but Amberina was "his" horse when we would get to go with Cindy and her husband Ed on trail or beach rides, and we have fond memories of Amberina. My daughters Meghan and Mandie have also grown very close to her as they have helped feed and groom her this year.

As you maybe know from reactions previois to you, this fellow is an 'older' horse lover .. and it did give me the gift
to see a little more.. She is tired ...look to the eyes.

The emotion felt now in your family is a good thing!
It will connect you all with her, now she is gone...and her last days where blessed and full of love .. reading your good note carefully..

She is VERY pretty!! A very nice picture. Also calm and peaceful. (I do agree with John, she looks a little sad)

Horses ...nobel animals and again best friends of human like dogs.

very nice backlit and frontal exposed shot without loosing too much fine-ness..the prescence of a reflector seems indicated..?

A fine dedication to a dedicated animal. I am assuming it was colic, seems to be a major illness for horses. Luckily I never lost any of mine to it though. Good close up shot of the aged mare. TFS

Hi Karen
This is a sad story..I can relate as I almost lost my guy to colic. Ambrina is a very beautiful horse with his sculptured features and long flowing mane and forelock. Have ever read the poem "The Rainbow Bridge" it's a poem about when we loose a special companion. Thanks for sharing Amberina.
