Grape Expec-T-tions

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| The Miniature Grape of Charleston was legendary. It's said that rogue colonists from France's Loire Valley region introduced it to the New World in an attempt to undermine the great wine producers of Europe. The grape's tiny size made it perfect for smuggling in snuff boxes or disguised as beads on women's necklaces. Unfortunately, the puritanical settlers of the American South frowned upon the drinking of fermented spirits and the diminutive fruit never achieved its full potential. Today it is mostly used as a garnish, although some novelty vinters do harvest it to make a light Muscatel-like wine, which they sell in very small bottles. |
