taken from a series of photos i shot the other day.. my red jacquard curtains caused a lot of problems with the light & colour balance so most were unuseable however i'm trying to salvage a few with the help of greyscale and some great new filter plug-ins i found which are keeping me up even later than usual playing with photoshop! like a child in a candy store.. :)

* cropped & adjusted levels to make darker
* cloned out ridges on the wall & the table i was lying on
* converted to greyscale & applied a filter called 'old film' which added further shadow & highlight enhancement and an old film like grain which i thought looked rather interesting
* framed & signed

the desired effect was a daydream like & melancholy pondering of the hearts woes.. (the space to the left of me being for the thoughts to linger..) oh, and the pondering part was not supplied by any filter.. all rights reserved there ihih

hope you like it and don't mind me being a bit melancholy with you.. a girls gotta find some way to deal! creative therapy is mine ^_^ but now i must sleep before i go insane...

Well, stunning composition in all. The head placed most right, the hair behind suggests a situation like being absolutely numb and be pulled out of range or life. Negative space underlines a mood of emptiness, of being tired and melancholic at all. And the grain adds lot more of such feelings. Great work, Ayda. And great poem added to the note, lovely.

ayda, i guess this explains why you were up so late last night :)
the melancholy mood is definitely in this one! look at those eyes...there is, without a doubt, some heavy pondering going on behind them...
your "creative therapy" produces nice results - keep on healing, girl, i'm anxious to see what's next!

you are right.... it's a heavy, embarassing reason.... but you have to keep force..... it's a thing that can happen....

It is sad and melancholy but creative therapy is always a good solution. This is definitely a full photographic step ahead for you Ayda. Feel better, shoot more!

Excellente composition (cadrage original et trés pertinent) et trés beau N&B (le grain notamment).
La restitution d'une ambiance mélancolique (spleen) est du coup parfaite.

Wonderful stuff. At first I was not too sure about the missing part of your face, but now I rather like it. Great filtered effect. I normally set my camer to a higer ISO, but this is obviously destructive. Any chance of sending me a link to where you found the plug-in. I did a quick search, but pulled up a bunch of stuff I was unsure of.

Well...nothing quite like heartbreak to bring out a poem like that. Your image was a well made interpretation for the poem. You do look tired...and the hair...definitely looks tired. Glad to see you're working those feelings out.

You've built a very powerful image here. I believe it's too powerful to be understood in a couple of glances, because you were able to transport your feelings into this photo... Very strong indeed. As I already mentioned, some people here can translate notes and moods in a fine way and when I see you(rs), I think, you did this in an excellent way....

very unique photo with very artistic and emotionfull feelings.. i like the graininess and the black and white.. nice cropping too.. well done

Finally a symbol for melancholy. For some reason the picture reminds me of the song Split Screen Sadness by John Mayer... even the song doesn't really have much to do with a picture like this, well it does and doesn't. :)

Very well done, interesting composition, with the little bit of your face missing adds that... I'm not all here... feeling and description, I think we could all figure out how you were feeling without reading your note. I think these lines describe the shot the best...

Great song, you should give it a listen some time. Once again a very powerful and emphasized shot, full of emotion and interest, which is all brought together by a strong frame. Very well done!
