[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Took this picture of a moon not yet full. Had to get it in between the rain here in Oregon.

I was experimenting with different f settings and a tele lens. Found the lower f numbers worked best. Did get some detail but my tele lens only goes to 250 mm. Also took the picture just after sunset (we did have one for a change). Some of the shots had the nice blue background that you get at this time of day. But I liked the color of this moon shot better and it's detail. Detail could be better. Croped it so to be able to get a closer look at it.

Any suggestion on how to get this kind of picture of the moon would be appreciated.

Any suggestio

It would have been better with a little bit lower shutter speed. The focus is not sharp enough to show the details on the moon. I think there is some of noise in this photo, I believe the source of the noise can be due to the little distortion on tripod. Generally it is hard to see details on the part of the moon which gets direct sunlight. The details are supposed to be at the edges especially at the bottom and the left top part of it. But because of not good focusing it is hard to see the craters. As I said before it is most probably because of the noise on the tripod when you took this photo.

Hi Fred,
Your unusual moon doesn't look that bad. A bit blurry, but definitely good. I haven't tried any shots with a lower ISO but I'm definitely going to. When I take a shot at the moon I take anywhere from 50-60 images and hope for the best. She moves alot!
Are you using the timer?
Good job and Merry Christmas
