Niagara Falls, New York:
On that wonderful day when Linda and Shelby and I all went rushing down to capture light on the water, I couldn’t resist taking a picture of this charming shooter – none other than our own shelbee.

Meanwhile, little did I know that Linda was taking a picture of me taking this picture, but it was the perfect set-up for us for today.

And indeed this does put me to thinking of a movie title—though I am willing to bet it’s a challenge for you to figure out what odd things happen in my twisted little mind.

Clue: The film was originally Swedish and released in the 1960s

Tech: composed in camera, captured in RAW, adjusted levels, contrasts and colour saturation in RAW; converted copy to jpg, cropped to straighten horizon, resized, sharpened, framed and signed

To post our images side by side in the TrekLens Gallery, Linda phoned me from Texas and we made sure that everything was ready to go so we could click on the "update" button at the same time.

Have a wonderful day everyone and thanks for looking

Have fun!

I must apologize for having made this one a little too obscure. The title for the image was intended to be “Through a Glass Darkly” based on the fact that Shelby was looking through a “glass” and that there is an island in the background – an island being the location of the story in the film. Hello Silke:)
I would guess... The Virgin Spring... probably I'm wrong because it is winter time on the picture.... or may be Stormy Weather?
Anyway this is very nice capture of Shelby and I love that blurred BG.
Best Regards - Tom

Hello Silke :)

Hi Silke! I like how you framed Shelby in the picture. She must be freezing! Very good focus and blur.
I have no idea of the film, sorry. I'll look into it later :)
Cheers!
Freddie :)

Good time or bad time we have photographers outside :)
I enjoy that view! Hope she put the camera in the heat under the coat between shots... Batterys losing fast they're charge :)
The angle in action is good!

Hello Silke Really a lovely outdoor portrait of Shelbee.
But she looks to me as a police woman, checking your speed limit. haha
Perfect photo. Shelbee will be proud on it.
Best regards from Jan

A very pretty model you have here!
Nice composition, but I think it lacks a bit of brightness?
Bes regards

Hi Silke, this is so well done! Good crop for a nice c lose-up on Shelbee! I love the colour coordination with the frame!
Very well done, sharp.

Could it be "Fanny and Alexander"? if it is Swedish. From Ingmar Bergman, my favourite who died this year.

Happy New Year to you too.

Yan :)

If it's Swedish I don't have a clue.
But how sharp and crisp Shelbee is - great shot of her too Silke.
Are you sure it's not "South Pacific" or "Summer Vacation"???

I'm waiting for the answer with baited breath.
Janice

Hi Silk

Wonderful pp work and a very beautiful view, so perfectly definded and presented. Darn good frame .. a good fit!

Grus ..Bruder Johan :-)

Hello Silke,

Perfect collaboration!
I love your sensitive cropping! You have Shelby off-centre, yet she is dominating the f/g, and she shows up so well against the blurred b/g!

I have no idea what the film could be but you have put 'Taking Aim' so maybe she's 'shooting the rapids'!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Many thanks for your kind comments on 'A film

I have absolutely no idea Silke and quite a few more intelligent folks have been here before me :). Great shot, love Shelby's warm clothing. Good focus and colour and well presented. TFS,

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Guess the Film’

A film from way before my time ;)
But I like how she is cropped into the corner. Great composition and the seriousness is just dripping of the picture.
Well done Silke
Cheers

Hi Silke,
It looks SOOOOO cold there. Bravo on this post. You've captured a great moment here. TFS Julie

Hello Silke,

Shelbee seemed to find the weather rather cold. As I pointed out to Linda, it is true with the proximity of the river , the mist and humidity, the cold is biting you more there. Specially if you are a texan girl used to hot and sunny weather.

Lovely catch , I like a lot the sharpeness and the depth of field. A perfect exposition.
Bravo!
Robert

Hi Silke,
Its a great shot of Shelbee for sure , good POV and color saturation, in a beautiful location too! Have to admit I didn't guess the film though, !
