Just upgraded to a Nikon D300 to keep up with my Dad and Uncle and decided to take it for a spin at one of my favorite local winter spots - Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. I arrived just before sunrise to see if I could get some "trees in the fog" shots, but the fog stayed in the valley and did not creep into the park. So instead I ventured in around Sonoma creek which runs through the park. Here is one result.

PP: Processed from RAW in Capture NX. Adjusted levels and lightened background to bring out the trees better. Cloned out a fiber on the sensor. Saturation Red +5 and Yellow +5. Re-size for TL and USM.

Ho, ho here we go.... The new camera is on the job. Coupled with the Capture NX you have amazing depth of tone and shades. Must have been really dark to need the 26 seconds. The rocks under the FG water look sharp and clear. Waiting to see more.

Beautiful execution of the slow-shutter technique on moving water.

Congratulations!
Rew

magnifique!
Quelle sérénité
qui s'en dégage.
Voilà une longue
exposition, qui
donne beaucoup
de fluidité
au mouvement
de l'eau.

I love this shot Mike,
You have captured the flow so magnificently that
the water flow itself and it's design it makes
are a wonderful abstract to stare at.
Then the scene just really pulls it all together.
Masterful work my friend.
Congrats on the new camera too!

Nice shot, I really like the SS,

Hi Mike-
I liked this shot out of the 3 sugar loaf creek photographs that you posted. It has a more effective composition than the other 2 with less distractions, and layers of water streams leading the eye to the top 1/3 of the frame. The polarizer and the details on the rocks add depth to the frame. This would have been a perfect image had the background trees not been cut in the middle. I would have tried to move left to remove them from the image. All said, this is a great photograph. Very well done!
