[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a wildlife shot for the postindustrial age. The Brown Pelican is a common sight along the southern California coast. But they do not have much habitat remaining in its natural state. So they go where they must, to catch fish in a polluted urban river, Ballona Creek, which despite its bucolic name is lined with concrete its entire length.

The image has been partially desaturated.

Ken,

Never mind the pelican - I'm more concerned about that thing up there on the concrete bank - looks like one of those rogue robots that escaped from Detroit. Rumour has it they set up a colony in the Mojave Desert. Probably tampering with the water supply! Watch your back!
