Sugar Loaf Morning III

Here is another offering from Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. I really enjoy roaming in and around this creek, but one thing it tends to lack this time of year is contrasting color. The dominant colors of the creek are green, gray, black, and white (white water). There isn't much if any red or yellow in the form of leaves, rocks, or foilage. So when I came across this rock I had to find a way to feature it.
I'm not all that thrilled with the shot as it might be a tad too dark and the composition might be too blunt. But what compels me to post this is the texture of the orange rock. Let me know what you think. All critiques are welcome.

I really like the mood you have captured. The FG rock is great but again I like the richness of the vegetation in the BG. All the rocks are stunning in there richness - water is well captured as well.

Hi Mike,
Another great shot, I don't think it's too dark, it shows the creek as you would expect it, I like how you have used the rusty coloured rock in thye foreground.
Well done

Hi mike,
I like this Image, you have a lot of detail captured and a lovely gloss from the wet rocks. I had a disaster last week in the highlands and smashed my Tokina 12-24 It was my favourite lens and now I have discovered my D200 may be damaged. I can feel a D300 coming on.

Excellent exposure Mike! I agree with you regarding the orange rock, it is a unique element in the scene and it really pops out. TFS

Hey Mike,
I have been looking at you're gallery and I really like you're appreciation of nature:) You capture it nicely.
I also like the dream like effect you're exposure time has given the water. It's interesting that there is a rock with an orangeish-red moss on it, compared to everything else that is quite green.
Great job.
