With big clouds looming over me in Sonoma County, I fought the relentless commuter traffic to get home, grab my gear and head out to Bodega Head which is a popular destination within Sonoma Coast State Beach. I had visions of big orange and red clouds as the sun set and flooded the sky with its last light. Well...that wasn't meant to be as the storm clouds off the coast shoved there way in and concealed the suns magic. What was I to do? Turn around and go home? Heck no, I walked around and found something that was almost as satisfying. Sometimes the color is right at your feet.

I really like the illusion created by the flowers and how at first it appears that the water is right there as well until you realize that it is far below. The long exposure really gives the water a great look. Very nice shot.

Magnifique!

Bravo.

Hi Mike,
Very nice dark mood you have captured here, and yet the splash of bright flowers gives a nice contrast. I also like the contrast between the threatening clouds and the hint of sunlight to the left. The clarity and sense of distance in this picture are excellent but what I think stands out the most is the feeling of motion you have captured well in the water - one can imagine the speed of the flow. Well done!
