the light is really too strong, it hides the beauty of the cat.....
you have a choice to make: shoot the light or shoot the cat?

hi josh,
farradhim is correct in his comments. the light hinders the subject.
had you been able to move to the left and put the cat in front of the sun, and used some filler flash, the pic may have ended up better.
your idea was good. just take a moment to compose the pic before releasing the shutter.
