What a day! My Husband and I were in Vermont when my daughter asked me if I would go with her to pick up a dog she adopted thru "petfinder.com". This is a rescue organization who rescues animals and finds good homes for them. I told her sure I'ld go seeing as though this new puppy was going to be staying with us for probably up to a year as my daughter is living in our home in Vermont at this time. Anyhow the story...

The puppy she was getting (not the one in this photo) was coming from Tennessee, via a 50' trailer inwhich 49 other dogs would be as well being transported to their new owners. She was told to be there at a certain time at an Interestate park and ride where people leave their cars to ride share. So we arrived a few minutes early and was surprised to see so very many people gathered around waiting for dogs! There were people walking around all holding empty dog leashes just waiting for this truck and trailer to arrive. After waiting about 15 minutes in pulls a big Dodge truck pulling a long horse trailer and the people there start milling around the trailer waiting for the big moment. There were children everywhere and at one time I overheard a mother say to her child who said "mom what are we doing here?" And the mother said "we are getting you a puppy" The little girl was so very excited! The people there all stood around the opened door to the horse trailer and you could hear all the puppies and dogs barking as they knew something was going on! As each puppy was passed out to his new owner the crowd would see it and an awwwww would go through the whole bunch of us. So many would would be holding back tears seeing all these puppies going to loving homes . It was a wonderful experience one that I was so happy to be apart of. I wanted to share this one photo of it with you , this little puppy was being taken to Maine with another group of pet rescuers with about 7 other puppies and there he would find his new home.
I love a happy ending. :o)

Hi Donna

Good use of the principle of 3 in the composition. This type of shot is not easy, when the dog is generally hyperactive, & doesn't sit still & 'pose'. Tfs!

Hi Donna,
It is great to know that these puppies would all get new homes, this is a really lovely shot shows how much this little one is going to be loved.
Love the great colours, nice and sharp as well.

What a moving story Donna, so glad to see animals get a new and loving home.
Can you do that take care of a dog for such a long time and then having to return him/her to your daughter?? I would not be able to do that.

A beautiful detailed and wonderful picture to share.

Thanks
Els

A perfect title, Donna. It is indeed an awwww! I particularly like the expression on the girl’s face, on the left. You can see the caring and excitement. The little animal of course is adorable and you have capture a lovely moment on his little face. Great colour and detail. your story is very touching. I too love a happy ending.

hello Donna,

if there are documentary about this.. i sure cry watching it.. i mean happy for the puppies going to new home with love.. in your shot the puppy is so cute and gorgeous, Donna.. love the hairy one :) very touching, Donna.

i cannot pet one but i do take good care of this old dog at my working place.. he was left in the Port still a tiny puppy then by a cruise ship tourist who thought that he can bring him to the ship on the day he bought.. my old colleagues tried to catch him but he is too scared that time until the security dept. pet him but gave him not a good food where all his hair falled of.. than i came to work there at first he hate me but everyday i played with him and gave him dog's food. now he loves me.. hehe..

okay enough of that.. i got carried away.. back to your picture.. i love this tender moment they are sharing.. well capture here.. simply love it. well done.

HI Donna
Great story, I would adopt another dog but
at my age you live one day at a time.

The photo is very nicely captured, showing us this cute little ball of colored fur, who is checking over his new owner, and I can almost imagine the conversation between them, and no doubt after a few words of cute doggie bit, got slurp, slurp all over her face.
Super shot.

Hi Donna,
Lots of love caught in this shot. I think this little guy just hit the doggie lottery. I have 2 rescues and they make for very loving pets.
