A second generation Chinese Family lost their large 3 bedroom home to a fire which started in a refrigerator stored in the garage.

Pictured are two of Cheney Washington's finest firefighters as they raced against time, but lost the biggest portion of the battle. Some you win. Some you lose. And in the background the owner covers her face in horror and the elderly grandmother sits in a lawn chair provided by a neighbor and covered in a blanket hiding her tears.

VEry sad story. The whole story is there in one snap, without even the fire in view. Excellent work

Certainly an interesting shot, Bob, with the unfortunate family in the background really making the image worthwhile. They do add perspective and emotion to the whole scene, especially the woman covering her face. A good, honest, real-life photo, Bob.

Very dramatic shot Bob, you have shown the story in one shot, as a retired fireman, I no how exhausted they must be, but you can't give up, you must keep going.

Thanks
Gil

hi Bob

Good photojournalistic shot showing firemen in action, while onlookers and victims were at the other side. Sharp and high resolution.

House fires are always destructive and sad. My sister set her house on fire one time cooking brownies! Excellent colors, saturation, and sharpness.

Hi Bob,sad story,unfortunately it's part of life.
This is an image one can use to portray what photojournal
photography is all about. The whole scene with all the emotions
without actually viewing the fire has been captured, from the
activity of the firemen right to the emotions of the unfortunate family, great capture my friend.
