The ferry from Cumberland Head New York to St Albans Vermont, crossing Lake Champlain NY at one of the narrow points of the lake.

Open all year round the ferries are constantly crossing one another. In the winter they are scheduled every hour and in the summer every 20 minutes.

There are several other points where ferries run on this gigantic lake, the longest run going to Burlington Vermont where the trip takes one hour.

I was hoping I could get a shot of the 2 ferries hulls crossing each other, but it was bitterly cold with those high winds and also a bit rocky, and since I already have loads of blurred photos, I settled for taking it on land.

good photo, clear and cold, I like the dog watching the ferry going by:)
Jacline

Great POV. Amazing detail of ice's cracks. Is a dog under the three on the bank?

Roberto

Hi Dot,
A nice river view, excellent sharp and well presented!
Hans

Dot, this is one very beautiful but also very very cold picture.

Thanks for taking the trouble to go out and make this picture. Lovely presentation.

Hello Dot. I like this shot placing the little island on the right with leafless trees capturing the ship. Well placed subjects against the horizon of the far bank of the lake. Well done and best regards. Jusni

Hello Dot
Belle création et joli agencement des différents éléments. J'aime bien ces arbres en bordure du lac.Ils orientent la perspective. La glace du premier plan affiche une jolie couleur bleutée et le ferry ajoute le mouvement à la scène.
Jolie photo

H Dot,

I like the composition by having the ferry on the left and part of land on the right . .
I thought was a military ship . .
Great shot my dear friend

Tfs,
Tjutjut

Many thanks for your kind words on Firework .

Morning Dot
I don't think Canada is going to ever warm up. Soft colors well captured with great clarity - almost B&W. Is that a dog on the point of land?

Thanks for the visit.

dan

Hi Dot,
Lovely winter shot of the ferry cutting through the silver ice. Beautiful texture to the icy waters of Lake Champlain.
St. Albans was the site of a Civl War Battle where the confedrates came across the Canadian border to raid the nearest city.
Regards, Tom

Hello Dot,
thanks for your tip on the composition of my heliconia. Yes, i have been thinking about that for sometimes. I have tried one and keep it. I contemplate and my eyes still prefer this straight and spacious position. I will try in my coming post. I think i need to be out of my normal way of seeing too. Thanks I definitely have that note taken.
As for your shot, I like pestel rendition like this one. Lovely capture of the season. The positioning of the tree is very complementary in amking the shot look grreat.

Regards,
Foozi
