[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This prime land on the Palouse of Washington State once belonged to nobody. Native American Indians did not believe in private land. They believe in the Great Creator and that they were alone responsible for this land on which they loved. Chief Joseph lived here. He was the last of the Indian warriors of his tribe. He is buried not far.

White men took this land illegally from the natives. As time passed it became the farmland it is today. All this will change in 1 month. This land was sold to housing developers and soon it shall be no more as is it...is this progress? I think not...

I like the use of black and white here, it really sets the mood, as described by your eloquent note, for the image. (Color would seem too "happy" to me, given the message/emotion you're trying to get across)
The positioning and layout of all the key elements of the image is perfect to my eye and the rather stark lighting also really "tells the story".
Thanks much for sharing this; great image with lots of emotion.
Not bad for a 2D medium. :0)
Thanks again,
Wilt
p.s. Yeah, "progress" is tough, seems there can be no open land anymore; such a shame.

Hello Bob,
This is a fine photo documentary of a situation well known in all countries where food prices cannot defend the wages in demand!
Composition wise I like the low point of view, the black and white fits the theme well...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Stories of land-theft echo through the ages, Bob - the Highland Clearances in my home country being one of many examples. As with many emotive historical issues, it is sometimes dangerous to judge the past based on today's knowledge and morals. There is shame in the history of all cultures, I think...

Anyway, that aside, I love the b/w conversion here. I also like that there is interest throughout the shot, a 'rolling' feel to it as our eyes are led from the foreground to the distant mountains and the sky about. Nicely composed image.
