The high winds were churning up the surf at the beach in Pacifica, California, where I stopped for a look on Saturday. The winds were so strong that I had to lean against some large boulders to keep my footing as I took this shot. I saw a couple start out for a walk with their dog and quickly change their minds, returning to their car all hunched over and pulled inside their hooded jackets:)
PP: shot in RAW, adjusted levels, contrast, and selective colors to try to manage the shadowy sides of the rocks the best I could, sharpened, resized, and added border. |

Hi Karen!
Something that I imagine I'd find in an episode of Violent Earth. =)
I like your composition (I'm a sucker for this kind of scenery), but I must admit that looking at it longer I found myself at a toss up. I kept looking to and from the frothy sea to the waves crashing on the rocks, and couldn't decide which one was the highlight.
Perhaps focusing more on the waves crashing onto the rocks would be more powerful (particularly the rocks at the end, near the center of the frame). If the skies were stormy or the sky was dark, a slower shutter speed would mist the waves. Since it appears that the day was bright, perhaps a faster shutter speed would freeze the action and better suit the shot.
Just my 2 cents worth... cheers!
I like the compositon and arrangement of elements very much here Karen.
I wonder, did you use a tripod for this shot?
You have the begininngs of the milky water effect going on, but i wonder if the clarity could be a tad bit sharper?
Still like the violent waves and crashing sensation this evokes.
Nice work.

Now this is where the real action is..
Great shot...
