[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have declared a truce with my squirrel population this week... 2 days ago we saw a Mommy squill taking care of at least 3 teeny, tiny babies... She would take one out of the nest (that is a hole in a tree) and shake it out then place it back in the tree.. it was very heart warming!

So yesterday I allowed her to come to the feeder.. Well word got out quick and at one time we had 5 of them on the deck...

I had to crop this photo and run it in neat image.

Yesterday was a dark, rainy day but today we have bright sunshine!

Tricia Hi:

Wonderful capture. They can be quite a photo subject and add the sametime make you so mad you wish they all would leave. They are hard on our bird feeders, also.

TFS!!

Good shot and good story to go with it. I got a giggle out of picturing the mother squirrel shaking out the baby like a dusty throw rug:) The look on the squirrel's face here gives this shot extra character, and the composition is well done. TFS!

Oh I know they steal bird feed, but they look so terribly cute and when she has to take care of 3 babies then you have to spoil her a bit - great that you do.

Good composed picture Tricia, and an intelligent look captured in her eyes!

Hey Trish
My dear, what a nice sharp picture.. and good eye contact!! I see you have the same gear as Vandana
40DX 18-200 lens..good one. I bought a little converter .. factor 1.4 .. seen dome good results here in TL from Necip and corresponded a few times with him about it .. the costs are ok.. round 200$$ , you do loose some quality .. but did read some forums and well there are tricks.. maybe its an idea for you too .. I will try it on my 70-300.. that turns with the converter 1.4 to 420 .. will see
Trish .. I hope you have a darn fine time .. with hubby and puppies..
Yo go to Dutch St. Maarten or Aruba?? A good cup of coffe ask for a 'lekker bakkie verkeerd ' :-)

There are quite a few fatties that come daily to my home and search for food and climb in the large tree that I see in front of my window...I always enjoy watching them!

She has come to eat but AI must say she is keeping an eye on you. Those little ear are at attention too. Well captured on the rail - BG focus is perfect.

Thanks again for the visits.

Hi Trica,
Lovely nature shot of this alert mother. Very sharp details with a lovely muted green background. These little guys are hard working wonders.
Regards, Tom

Tricia,

Great composition. I love the contrast between the textures of the wood and the fur. Such a noble shot for such a common animal.

It does seem a little unbalanced to me. I did a workshop to see how it looked with an even tighter crop.

Great work!

Hi Tricia

Luckily I don't have squirrels on my bird feeders (just lots of hedgehogs on my ground feeders but they are very cute and the numbers are declining so I don't mind them). The squirrel does look cute with that curious look. Nicely composed and good DOF. I would love to see some baby squirrels!

A quick hello Tricia,Good composition & loved the note, would have liked to have seen that. Magpie had ahold of one the other day & it had ahold of him, it got away but Magpie was bleeding. He is still chasing them though :} Don
