Here is another picture of the Canadian Goose. I caught this guy as he was coming in for a swim. Usually Geese fly in groups however he was all alone. I tried to wait for the right moment and this is the result.

I used a pretty quick shutter speed for this shot 1/200 however it probably could have been a little quicker. I used my 70-300mm lens with a UV filter. My focal length was 300mm and I was about 60 feet. In PP I adjusted levels and increased saturation for better color. I also sharpened a little then cropped, added frame then resized for TL. Let me know what you think all critiques and comments are most welcomed. I hope you like the shot and thanks for viewing.

Regards,
Kevin

Hi Kevin
Lovelt freezing of the duck's landing. The feeling is even more intensified by the fuzzy background.
Compliments

well framed, not the perfect sharpness, but i can't blame you, and i never did as good as this

Hi Kevin,
Great action of this big honker making a smooth landing on the green riffling water. Wonderful sense of motion with great details and sharpness to this fine nature image.
Regards, Tom

Hi Kevin

Good timing.
Shots like this are not easy.
With the spray of the water almost looks like he is water skiing.

Regards Derek

Hi Kevin,

Hi Kevin,

It is good timing and good composition.
However the image quality is not to good. White balance seems to be a bit off as it looks to have a brownish, yellowish cast. Also it is not sharp, this could be focus but it could also be very well the crop that you made, which also blows up camera shake.

Cheers,
Pedro

Hi Kevin,
Nicely composed and presented, a few things In My Opinion that would help here are the waterline is not level, there is a slight yellow tint and the subject is not as sharp as it could be, you could probably cure the yellow tint in your PP by changing the whitebalance, to sharpen the image shooting at 300mm you should be trying for a shutter speed of 1/600sec or higher.
I know how hard it is to get a shot like this so well done for trying.
Regards Andy

Ho yes, very nice shot.
If all the fighter jets had this mouth would have so much fun...

Very good combination of speed and diaphragm, you have captured a very good time.

Thx for sharing.

I actually think the sharpness of the bird and the water spray is very good Kevin. Possibly a bit dark but a wonderful capture just the same. TFS,
David

Hello Kevin:)
This picture is like mix of photography and painting - look really attractive and of course spectacular due to action on it. Only one think to get your attention: horizontal line is tilted and we know that can't be where water is presented, I would like to suggest you to use monopod for that kind of picture - very useful:):):) anyway this is great and I know really difficult to do it - few things to control at ones in such a short time.
Have a nice weekend - Tom

Hi Kevin,
I like this panning shot. Making this more interesting is the captured moment of the duck just coming in, touching the water surface - the splash, the posture of the duck, the motion blurred of the surroundings, all blended nicely to make a very nice photo. LIke this very much, Kevin.

BTW, should you had use a bit higher shutter speed as you mentioned, IMHO, the beautiful motion blur could not be as good as this. (Please correct me if I am wrong with this...)

Regards,
Ramdan.

Hi Kevin,
Great capture and well timed shot. It looks like a panning shot. Well done! tfs
Cheers,

Hello kevin,

A moment in time well captured. A very difficult shot to make which you have handled well. You can see room for improvements, sure--but --well done!
I love how the goose splays his feet on landing--great landing gear.
TFS, Joni

This is great--a perfect pose, nice and clear, and a good background with no distractions.
