Hello Shelly, a good composition with plenty of space for the heron to walk into.

My favorite thing here is the reflection of the bird in the water and the slight movement of the water to distort it. The colors are very cool!

This is really a lovely shot. The controlled exposure and subdued levels have delivered rich saturation and contrast. It gives a sense of depth and mystery to the woody shoreline, and the reflections on the water.
The heron here is perfectly placed within the frame, beautifully presented.

Hello Shelly,

A wonderful place for getting-away-from-it-all!
The dark b/g and inky water make a great contrast for the heron. Its refection makes a good lead in line to the shot.
It's nice how the sun is lighting up the grass and making shadows on the trees!

Lake Wateree sounds like a dream place to be when you're down.

I notice this white guy is concentrated on the task at hand, observing every possible movement below the surface...

Looking around here I say : Lady you know your photo stuff

Making a 'night shot' often we deal with grain .. unsharpness.. less color..
Sure we could make a sum of all that moight could be better.. but I turn it around .. and say : I am surprised to see how fine you did with all those problems facing 'us' photographers

Fortunate capture and well depicted composition. It's not so easy to get near those birds...
I like the light that illuminates the egret and the herbs while the rest is in shade, it gives a wonderful fresh atmosphere.
