To try to show different aspects of horse racing I thought it would be good to show several horses entering the frame with a lot of space in front of them. The problem is that in panning with a spot focus the main subject is in the middle of the frame with very little space in front or behind. In this case the horse and rider were moved to the left side and the picture was extended to the right using the clone tool and motion blur to smooth out the straight lines.

My wife and I are going on vacation for two weeks so I will probably be off line for that time...pleanty of pictues after that hopefully.

The rider and some of the horse’s straps and hardware were selectively sharpened using the Unsharpen mask and a layer mask. The numbers on the scoreboard were changed to avoid repetition from the cloning.

Hi Roger,

Wow! This is a really good PP here. I would not have noticed the edits if it weren't for your notes. This is good knowledge for improving my photography and PP skills.

TFS.

Regards,
Alvin

Morning Roger
The selection of shutter speed was right on allowing great clarity in the horse and Jockey and blurring in the lets and jockeys hand. All you PP work greatly inhanced the quality of the image. Bravo.

Enjoy your vacation.

Dan

Hello,
very good job because it's difficult to shot horses between a race.
Bravo!

Very interesting framing that I find very effective! Another excellent action shot. Have a great holiday!! I'll look forward to seeing the pictures :)

Great action photo. Good idea to show the speed by letting them fall in the photo and leave a lot of space in front. Great perspective.

Hi Roger,

This composition is a good idea in my opinion. I think this type of composition gives more feeling of motion expression. Your Lens is working very well here. The chosen speed is very good, so that we can see both motion and body. Sharp and detailed. Well done! TFS!

Masroor

Ooh just beautiful!!

An excellent capture, I like how you've framed this photo, with the horses on the left, with lots of space for them to "move" into. The contrast of sharp focus and blur also gives a great sense of the movement. Nice photo!
