An interior detail shot of Haleakala Crater. Standing there seemed to be the closet I could get to the feeling like I was on another planet. I was just mesemerized by the colors and curves. Here we see some of the walking trails over a hill in the middle ground.

Shot in RAW, Converted to JPG and adjusted levels in CS3.

>>>>>>>>>>> Wikipedia

Haleakalā is a massive shield volcano that forms more than 75% of the Hawaiian Island of Maui.

Early Hawaiians applied the name Haleakala ("house of the sun") to the summit area only, most likely due to the fact that from the west side of the island, the sun could be seen rising up over the eastern side of the mountain. In Hawaiian folklore, the depression at the summit of Haleakalā was home to the grandmother of the demigod Māui. According to the legend, Maui's grandmother helped him capture the sun and force it to slow its journey across the sky in order to lengthen the day. In modern times, Haleakalā has become synonymous with the entire East Maui volcano.

Hi Vincent

Looks like Mars, or even another planet. A superb (& safe) high pov. I now regret not seeing Bromo volcano in Java, Indonesia, when I was there. I'll definitely try to get to Maui, in December if I make it through my Korean contract. Good color & sharpness. Tfs!

Great shot and interesting palce!
Well done

Hey Vincent,
Interesing POV, certainly had to look twice to make sure it wasn't Mars; pretty amazing image and a view, almost well inside this marble.
The rolls and curves and lines and shapes are really other worldly, it's an impressive capture of, I'm sure, an impressive place.
Really good work,
Thanks much for this view.
Wilt

Ominous! I expect some moon creature to pop up or slither across the surface. I reminds me of the cinder cone at Mt. Lassen State Park.

Interesting colors and textures, Vincent.

Hi Vincent, fascinating composition with splendid light and fantastic colors, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi Vincent.Nice colours and tones.
Best regards, Bosko.

Hello, Vincent -
This is a very striking image of an alien landscape that looks both blasted and alive at the same time. It must be the warm and vivid colors that you have brought out that give it the feeling of warmth rather than bleakness. You showed the contours well with good sharpness and light. Very memorable image.

Hi Vincent..this is a fantastic shot...perfect details and tones of colors. You captured the perspective perfectly.

This picture is great, colors and composition are marvelous for this fantastic world. Thank to share your talent with TL members.
Have good time.

Hello Vincent

I was absolutely bewildered seeing that photo. It realy looks like another planet like you say. Stange mix of colors and texture, a curious pattern drawn on the side on the main hill. No sky to be seen, just that kind of sandy mountain. I love it.
Bravo
Serge
