Creepy Abandoned House
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I took this shot when exploring an abandoned farm with my friends. We usually explore abandoned houses/structures at night for the whole creepy factor, so this is only one of two abandoned places I've explored during the day. It's much more creepy at night, but it's more fun from a photography perspective during the day. There's also the whole challenge of trying not to get caught trespassing at night while shooting flash photography the entire time...kind of obvious to the law. Haha!
For this particular shot I used one or two ND filters and set the aperture to f/16 to allow for a long exposure. I wanted the long exposure and the stopped-down aperture so I could create a star pattern with the sunlight. The light from the window is definitely over exposed, but I think it adds to the whole feel of harsh sunlight penetrating the dark, creepy place. |

Bonjour,
Belle utilisation du noir et blanc pour cette ambiance.
Bonne journée.

Ooo, I love pics like this Stephen! I posted one kind like this on Friday. There is a "feeling" in places like this...sadness, sometimes I get bad feelings and I don't go in alone! Mainly for safely, but I just don't want to go there! Really nice work! Love the EXTREME of the shot...spooky!
B-)

Hello Stephen,
A tangible atmosphere of decay... This photo seems to tell us a story. The B&W, as well as the general soft focus, enhance the mystery and the suggestive power of your picture...
Good work to start with on TrekLens!
Welcome & thanks for sharing (TFS),
Erik
great photo...reminds me of many of the abandoned farm houses i have been in (especially in north dakota)...i have a bunch of posts in my gallery if you interested...great use of natural light and nice composition...have you ever tried long exposures at night on a tripod instead of flash...the results can be pretty cool especially if you shoot the exterior and capture the star trails in the sky...peace***
