[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken at Alcatraz Island, which is a National Park. The ruins at the top of the cliff was the original home of the Alcatraz military commander. When Alcatraz became a prison, James A. Johnston was the first warden to live here.
Built in 1929 in Mission Revival style, the house had 17 rooms in 3 floors with a spectacular view of San Francisco Bay. A fire gutted the house in 1970 and the ruins soon became a favorite photographic subject for the millions of tourists who visit the island every year.
In December, a powerful storm blew and toppled a block of concrete that had crowned the top of the house and opening an ominous crack across the building's front. As a result, workers had to tie down the fragile facade with ropes.

Whew ... if they haven't made it already, there's a movie in that house! There must be some angry, angry ghosts on that island and they'll all be hearded for the Warden's house!

Good use of the b&w treatment as always, textbook composition, good sharpness.

So, I've been here, as a visitor, a few times and admittedly never saw this particular view of the ruin you present here.
Really captures the fairly eerie spirit and feeling of the deserted island.
Nicely done in black and white.
