Michael's Blue Period

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I figured it was time to do a self-portrait, but I assumed no one would be interested in a nude of a guy my age*, so I decided to play with Photoshop a bit. I found some timed shots I had taken of myself at my desk recently, selected one I liked, and cropped it down to a headshot.
I masked myself off and used a lens blur on the background to de-emphasize it. Then I adjusted the levels until the background was a fairly solid color. I set my foreground color for a medium to dark blue, and my background for a light bluish-gray color, then started fiddling with filters.
I liked a lot of the different effects, but finally settled on the Photocopy filter (located in the Filter/Sketch menu), which gave it a sort of Van Gogh look. I adjusted the setting until I had the effect I wanted, then sharpened the image, reduced the size, and uploaded it.

This is a very nice portrait of yourself Michael. The effect from all the post processing is excellent. Well done.
Hi Michael,
Cool pp work. Looks great! It actually reminds me a bit of a really heavily loaded ink stamp more than a photo copy though. No complaints here...okay, just one...smile next time! ;P

Michael, I like it. I find it contains the right amount of lines and patterns to draw my eye. And you are right, I can do without the nude of you as I am sure you can me, HA! Good work, B
...and than you'll become Picasso;-) (i don't want to worry you but he was younger in his blue preriod so there is a risk...)anyway nice portrait!

I like a lot this kind of pp that leaves intact the face features.
Well done.
