Yes, this is how the brave firemen get to high places to enter burning buildings, save cats from high trees, and rescue people from heights. One step at a time, they climb for the safety of others.

I saw this folded ladder atop a fire truck and was amazed at the expansion of it, the mechanics involved, and the repetitive shapes and lines. This is atop a DeKalb County Fire Truck. States in the U.S. are divided into counties (some states call them parishes or townships). In Georgia each county has their own fire and police departments. DeKalb is probably the 1st or 2nd largest in the state in number of employees.

In this photo, I added contrast, resized for upload.

As always, I appreciate your comments!

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Firemen are always in our heart and think this feeling start soon from children too
I was in New York after 11 Sept., two years after in Ground Zero and was really sad to read all the names of firemen dead on that date.
My sons took photos with firemen in ground zero and we stopped to pry for them.
Was really a so strong emotion for us, near to cry.
Your simple photo is just to remember some particulars of their job, particulars that often need to save lifes
for this reason you shot is great.
Not only for details and pov but for the meaming of your message!
wow so many words and hope my words will be apreciate and hope to give you my feeling looking your shot.
Language can be a problem, but heart language need no translation.

Hi Lisa,
Good capture of this important piece of equipment, nice sharp lines and shapes.
I never think to take pictures of things like this, maybe I should open my eyes.
Well done

Hi, Lisa -
Another great example of a common scene that you have recognized as an excellent photographic subject. Great graphics and geometric lines and shapes - the angled struts channel the eye to the sign. Fine management of light and shadows. The sign is bright and colorful. Well done!

Excellent capture. I like the light play on the metallic constructions. Nicely done.
Best wishes,
Achim

Hi Lisa,

Very nice shot of this many steel constructions. Great details and the red objects guve a nice contrast.
Well done!

TFS Greetings Simone

Hi Lisa,
I wonder how many people owe their lives to this ladder?
The tight crop lets us see the sturdy construction in the structure, well seen.
TFS,
Pete.

Hi Lisa
Equipment that always needs to be kept in top shape.
They do have a lot of time to do so, but when duty calls its extremely dangerous and in our country where the winters are harsh it rips your heart out to see them covered in ice fighting away at something which is often a total loss.
Good shot with many lines depicting so well the long ladder.

I like the tight composition, with the bright red to catch the eye - nice sharp photo too which is the most important thing. Too many uploads on TL are blurred or out of focus but your pics are nice and sharp.
Cheers
David
