Hello TL friends, its been raining a lot here in Ohio the last few days so I decided to shoot some subjects around the house and yard. This weed was fun to shoot. A very simple subject but sometimes difficult to capture.

For this shot I was laying on the ground as low as possible looking up into the sunset. I used a 55-200mmm lens with a focal length of 66mm. I used 2 filters for this a Hoya circular polarizer and a promaster close-up +4 filter. In PP just cropped, framed and resized for TL. I hope you like it and as always thanks for viewing. Have a great day.

Regards,
Kevin

Hi Kevin
this image is fantastic for its soft tones (like sepia) and great clarity of the weed. the shadow and frame add an artistic effect.

Hello Kevin

It might be past its prime as a flower but for photographing it is ripe for the picking! Lovely shot with good detail and I love the way the different coloured light is captured in the seeds

TFS regards Helen

Hello Kevin,
This shot is actually quite moody. The desaturated feel makes this simple subject very interesting. The low angle is fantastic, excellent work!

Hi Kevin,
It certainly is fun to work around your home to see what photo project you can come up with. I do this all the time. This thistle-like weed indeed has lost its prime, and the tone and desaturation conveys the mood. Best regards, Danilo

Moody and nice composed, that light made different atmosphere here, good capture!
Greetings - Tom

Hi Kevin,
Simple composition but quite effective. I like the overall contrast and shallow DOF which made your subject standout. Well composed! tfs

Hi Kevin,
Nice soft focus on the fading dandelion, and a great background as well.
All the best,
Karen

Hi Kevin,

Good composition and POV on this photo. However, IMHO, i think your usage of the filters has caused the dandelion to lose a bit of its details. It's not dark enough to be silhouette but its not clear enough to see enough details. Probably you don't need the polarizer for this shot. It would be wonderful to see all the fine details of the dandelion.

TFS.

Regards,
Alvin

Hi Kevin,
I can feel the difficulties of making a nice exposure for this dandelion. With those difficulties and efforts to make it right, it will surely be a great fun to see the result.

I like the POV, shooting the dandelion against sunset. I believe, IMO, it would be more impressive without the black 'shadow' on the background touching your subject. But, you might have your own reason to make it as presented here. Moreover, the result here is still interesting.

Regards,
Ramdan.

HI Kevin
Very nice silhouette but with some colors, which makes it look unique.Stands out really well against the background. The black in the background gives it a bit of an oriental look.

Your choice of POV has given this fading dandelion another chance to make an impression. I like its irregular silhouette against the sky, supported in the composition by the background shadow. Great shot:)

Hi Kevin,
beautiful piece of art! I love the use of lights and silhouettes. The photo is so clear and so delicate - almost soft... *s* Perfect details. tfs
