I was able to tie my fourth and final Father's Day Fly-In posting with Helen's 3 in 1 Friday Theme. Here are three view of a restored P-51. Additionally, these images are fitting for the Fourth of July, US Independence Day celebration.

Wikilpedia: The P-51 flew most of its wartime missions as a bomber escort in raids over Germany, helping ensure Allied air superiority from early 1944. It also saw limited service against the Japanese in the Pacific War. The Mustang began the Korean War as the United Nations' main fighter, but was relegated to a ground attack role when superseded by jet fighters early in the conflict. Nevertheless, it remained in service with some air forces until the early 1980s.

As well as being economical to produce, the Mustang was a fast, well-made, and highly durable aircraft. The definitive version of the single-seat fighter was powered by the Packard V-1650-3, a two-stage two-speed supercharged 12-cylinder Packard-built version of the legendary Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, and (the P-51D) were armed with six of the aircraft version of the .50 caliber (12.7 mm) Browning machine guns.

After World War II and the Korean conflict, many Mustangs were converted for civilian use, especially air racing. The Mustang's reputation was such that, in the mid-1960s, Ford Motor Company's Designer John Najjar proposed the name for a new youth-oriented coupe after the fighter.

The P-51 is perhaps the most sought after of all warbirds on the civilian market; the average price usually exceeds $1 million, even for only partially restored aircraft. Some privately owned P-51s are still flying, often associated with organizations such as the Commemorative Air Force (formerly the Confederate Air Force).

Hi Daniel,

Another Beauty! I like the trio of planes. Very colorful and bright. The sunny day cast nice shadows on the images too. I especially like the one on the left! :D

thanks for sharing, Lisa

Not sure about your series counting but am sure we can always count on you for a skillful shot and interesting subject:) This 3-in-1 is an excellent grouping and set of POVs. Crisp and clear, just like the sky that day. Well done.

I love your 3 shots, specially the closer view of this beautiful plane. Good use the light. Very well presented.

Mario

hello DAniel !

Perfect presentation to me , with the colorful nose at the left. Too bad a canopy was above the cokpit.

Mustangs vs Messerschmidts . Bringing me back memories of old comic books , and WWII history.

TFS,
Robert

Brilliant contribution to the theme - three very clearly different points of view of the same thing!
Technically: all three are superb captures - fine compositions throughout and superb clear details with luminescent colours.
The collage composition is excellent with fine lead-in lines

Beautiful composite, Dan. All shots are well detailed, even at this small size. I particularly like the crop on the leftmost image, the propeller. The blue sky and bright sunlight really brought out some nice details.
TFS!

Hello Daniel

3 excellent images here, nice varied POV's which give us a very good look at the aircraft. Love the framing and the choice of different size images too.

TFS and for joining in the theme

kind regards Helen

Hi Daniel,
I love the main pic, the Mustang spinner and prop just says POWER, your pic captures that well.
The other two images are good, but a pity to distort them, if they had three blade props, you may have got away with it.
Still, a good contribution to the theme.
Pete.

Hi Daniel,
This is a fantastic composition, I love all 3 images here, but especially just the propellor. Great colours and nice sharp detail.

Hi Daniel,
I missed this one, these planes are great and you have captured it well, good colours and details, at the airshow on Saturday we had a P-51 in the display that I hope to post in the week.
Well done
Regards Andy
