Yesterday, Dave and I took off for a Sunday morning gathering, and we rode our motorcycles. Two friends from our group also rode in and so we had an impromptu motorcycle trip after the gathering.

We rode up The Montgomery Trace to have lunch and ended up shopping a few antique stores, we rode through the Sam Houston National Forest and through 5 counties! The heat was pretty tough and I ended up soaking my jacket in water and that helped for about 15 minutes…and then the jacket was DRY!

I took this in the local antique store in Montgomery Texas. This is my favorite color of all time, Cobalt blue, combined with white it’s like heaven to me! My mother was a huge fan of putting glass in the windows, especially her Cobalt Blue Cut Glass Pitcher and cups. I still drool over it! So this is what caught my eye, and I just love it. For me Blue is the color of Peace.

As I rode yesterday I was reminded of why I love Texas summers so much! The sky was perfect, the grass was green, the memories of the good times in the country came back and all is well. If I can remember the good times, when the bad seems overwhelming, I can keep my perspectives even. I came home tired, but happy.
B-)

Good morning, Linda
The contrasts in this are simply stunning! Superb blues and wonderful composition. I would have a hard time resisting these in a store, that’s for sure. Good thing you were on your motorbikes :)

Linda the backlighting certainly enhanced the glass pieces, rich blues, the item on the far right looks like a tropical fish (looking up) lol
Hey if you had sddlebags, some of that blue could be in your window!
Nice attention to the detail and colors in this

Linda the temperatures you descrivbe are beyond my comprehension. How do you have energy left to do something at all. But I can see that visiting such a shop can revive you - love shops like this - although blue is not my colour, I love the effect of the light playing through the glass. (for me 1000 colours will do ^-^).
Now suppose I see something beautiful, the of course I have to travel by car......, good thing then that you were on your motorbike.

Hi Linda,

The lights are special here. Backlighting adds the mood.
The tones are great, and the concept framed well.
Just think of a light , falling in the foreground object on the left.. and that would make a big difference in frame..
Thank you for the share, and I wish you many more happy rides through Texas..
Enjoy !!

Hiya Linda

I just love this one... of course its my favourite colours but the light and detail is also good, nicely composed and captured my friend.. an I couldnt help but notice you cracked the 30,000 mark. I know points are not what its all about but its still an amazing feat that shows true dedication here and worth mentioning and congratulating on

TFS regards Helen

Hi Linda,

Blue happens to be my favorite color. Brilliant "sky blue"..preferably seen from a plane! I too like blue in my decorating. I have a lot of blue and white in my kitchen. This is very nice the way the lighting is shining through the blue glassware. Every time I look at the photo I see something I hadn't noticed before.

Blue also brings me peace. A peaceful shot! Thanks Linda. Lisa

Hello Linda
A nice collection of old / blue items.. I like the low light coming in the window! No distractions either from the window.. focus is all on the lovely glass..

Hi Linda,
Against the light through the window, these beautiful cobalt blue glasses looks so rich and gorgeous! I like the way you managed the lighting without overexposition.
Very nicely done! Annie

Backlighting well captured on the blue glass including the fish on the right. Interesting stuff in those places. Riding your motorcycle prevents bringing home large things from those shops.

Hi Linda: I like the colors and arrangement in this picture. As to your note: I have long suffered under heat stress at work, and as a safety rep I found what worked for me (and my fellow workers) was a cooling vest, described here. It workes the same way as you said about soaking your vest in water, except that the weave retains moisture for several hours. Tested and guaranteed by me!
Cheers
Otto

hello Linda
hope you are geting better each day.

So you are an antique collector too. very nice hobby to go along with.
i have just finished all my smileys for the day but before winding up i must write something for this shot, this is a nice composition of blue crystel/glass. the light is just perfect to highlight the outer area of the glass.
superb contrast.

I love the blues Linda. I once had a collection of various bottles in just this colour, unfortunately travelling acrosss Australia with my possessions most were broken. Good colour and light and lovely semi silhouettes,
David
