Misty Sunrise #2

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Last weekend, a fellow TL member and myself went to his grandfather's home to do some fishing, on the Whitefish Chain near Fifty Lakes, Minnesota.
The first morning was eerily quiet, and the fog rose up from the lake as if it were smoke from a great fire burning beneath the surface. Severe storms were in the forecast, and as we left the dock in our old 14' fishing boat, thunder could be heard from every direction.
We trolled, jigged and casted for whatever felt like dancing, enjoying the peace and quiet, but our catch was nothing to write home about. As we sat and tossed worms and poppers into some lily pads for the largemouth bass, the stillness was broken by this other boat, a man and a woman out looking for breakfast as we were. The scene looked right, so I took their picture, backdropped against the mist. Soon after, it began to drizzle, and by the time we landed at the dock, the rain was coming down in sheets.
As I said in my last post, going fishing isn't about catching fish. Its just about being on the water, where everything makes sense and the world is only what we make it.
When we got back to the prairies, I felt I should share some of this moment with you. Enjoy :-) |
