Scavenger Hunt entry for the item -- Liquid Macro.

I'm usually one of the first people in the building each day (around 6:45 AM), which is good because it allows me a couple of hours before anyone arrives when I can lock myself in my office and write or work on photo editing. It's so early, though, that I usually need some coffee to kickstart the day, so the first chore of the morning is to make a big pot of coffee in our coffee lounge. I thought this would be an excellent subject for the Liquid Macro (coffee dripping into the pot). Ha! Humor!

It wasn't easy at all. I took about eighty HORRIBLE pictures. This was the best of the bunch, and it required a lot of editing to get it to where it is (which isn't that good in my opinion). Those of you who are doing those wonderful macros of water floating in mid-air and splashing and plopping apparently have a LOT of patience. I tried several other water shots at home, during the past few days, and tossed almost all of them. None were worth fooling with. I'm going to experiment some more, later on, when I have the time to control the lighting and the angles better, etc.

With this shot, I adjusted the levels, masked off most of the coffee and applied Photoshop's Plastic Wrap filter to the masked area, and adjusted the settings to keep the turbulence and lessen the plasticity, then sharpened it, resized it, and uploaded it.

strange photos
The shot doesn't appeal to me, it's just not my cup of tea :)

Hi Michel, yes it is hard, that's why I went with cream (runs slower). It all looks so simple until you begin to try to take pictures of them. Well you are getting a martian just for the effort of doing this so early in the morning, while waiting for coffee !
