Sunset view from the top of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, looking south. This was shot handheld, since Tripods are not allowed a top these observation decks without a permit. Not my favorite way to shoot, but I was just trying to capture the colors of the sunset that evening.

I was excited about the increase in uploadable image filesize from 200k to 300k and decided to make use of the site Repost function. I was never quite happy with the processing on the previous version so here is another attempt.

Hi Vincent

No tripods allowed in the Terracotta Warriors museum, in Xuan, China either. A superb sunset view of NYC with subtle colors & good shadow detail. Tfs!

Good effort, especially handheld. The Big Apple's one of the best places in the world for photography - and you've got a nice shot here...

Wow, Vincent,
what an impressive shot not only for the quality, but for being handheld, too. Low light, no tripod and you have outstanding detail and sharpness. Wonderful evening color and excellent view. Great job!! Many thanks and warm regards,
Shelly

Terrific shot.

I guess the whole permit thing must have happened since 9/11, as I remember spending several hours with a tripod on top of the Empire State Building one evening.

The eveniing haze an the colours here are fantastic; you have captured such an awesome sense of height and openness also. Very well done!

Hi Vincent,
This new version is really impressive! The light scarf of mist over the Big Apple gives it a softness finely rendered! As others said, excellent control of technical aspects considering you took it without tripod. Beautifully done! Annie

Salut vincent,
...de retours de vacances je n'avais même pas remarqué ce changement de 200k à 300k...!
Impressionnant ici l'effet de profondeur. On a une impression de dentelle également qui se détache du paysage.
Bonne journée

Quite impressive for a hand-held shot Vincent, you must have sturdy hand for it is sharp and beautifully exposed. Lovely gentle colors in the horizon. Cheers, Danilo

Hi Vincent,
The sunset colors are beautiful and impressive details you had captured (HANDHELD!!). Beautiful sunset and cityscape.

Yes Vincent, I am thankful too that the image filesize was made bigger - some of my landscape that loaded with foliage details are never made good on 200kb limitation.

Regards,
Ramdan.

ciao Vincent!

beautiful POV view and colors here!

breathtaking panorama of NYC!
TFS

Warm hugs from Bergamo!
Ania

I adore the way you captured the daylight's departure leaving room for the city lights to give contour to the night. Such perfect timing!
Congrats!
Best regards,
Diana

Even though without a tripod, quite a sharpness for a handheld shot in these light conditions! Beautiful sunset. I like those little lights that softly illuminate the skyscrapers and buildings :)

Kind regards,

Natalia
