[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Football is in the air... its that time of year. This is a good friend's nephew at the helm of the Helena Bengals high school team this fall.

Night shots on high school fields have always been tough for me... light levels lower than I'd like for the speed of the action. Any suggestions from folks about how to best capture evening sports events would be MUCH appreciated!

I tried to keep the shutter speed up to at least 1/100, but had to crank up the ISO quite a bit to do that (2500). I hear that my D300 can do well with higher ISOs... Thoughts/Ideas?

Thanks in advance. -Kelly

WOW! Great action! An impressive picture with good color and detail. TFS and have a great day!

Action sports under poor lighting is difficult. You might want to try an even higher iso speed such as 3200. 1/320 is about as low as I go with action sports unless I'm intentionally trying to blur the action. Otherwise well timed and framed.

I like the shot I gotta admit though the frame is a bit distracting. THis brings back memories of yearbook staff.

Oh yes the shutter speed that also brings back memories of freezing my tail off underexposing film and working my butt off trying to get the shots right.

THe frame though takes soo much away.
