Oregon Waterfall II
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The North Fall is the second of the waterfalls my son and I photographed at Silver Falls State Park an hour east of Salem, Oregon.
Wikiipedia: Silver Falls State Park is a state park located near Silverton, Oregon. It is the largest state park in Oregon with more than 9,000 acres (36 km2) containing more than 24 miles (39 km) of walking trails, 14 miles (23 km) of horse trails, and a 4-mile (6.4 km) bike path. Its 8.7-mile (14.0 km) Canyon Trail/Trail of Ten Falls runs along the banks of Silver Creek and by ten waterfalls, from which the park received its name. Four of the ten falls have an amphitheater-like surrounding that allows the trail to pass behind the flow of the falls.
The park's most visited waterfall is South Falls (yesterday's posting), a 177-foot (54 m) cascade. Remote Double Falls, however, is the highest waterfall in the park, plunging 178 feet (54 m) in a small tributary side canyon deep within the Silver Creek Canyon. (North Falls shown here is 136 feet.) |

This is a nice view here Daniel, but a little bit too much OE on the water for me. But I understand you may have had no choice, or bad lighting conditions. Maybe it's your levels? NOt sure..I would have to see the original file. In situations like this I play around shooting all sorts of different F-stops just to see the effect I get. I'm impressed by the size of these falls, they are quite amazing!

Hi Daniel,
I agree with Scott I like the classic composition as well. However the rock ledge above does provide a great natural frame. I love the vivid green color in this shot. The SS once again seems to be just right. Nice work.
Regards,
Kevin

I really like how you handled this setting Daniel, the slow shutter speed and slight overexposure create a slightly surreal atmosphere and draw the attention to the waterfall. There is no doubt about where the star of this image is. Maybe you could have cropped a little bit from the top. It seems to be the place where fairies bathe.
Wow, a fascinating composition of a gorgeous falls Dan, really nice place and an excellent photographed you've done here my friend.
