"A Thank You to All"

Thanks everyone for your kind words and well wishes for those of us in Texas during Hurricane Ike. We are boarded up and I am sending this to Silke to post for me in the morning. I so appreciate it and as soon as I am back in communication I will call Silke and let her know how we fared. Tonight we expect anywhere from 75-110mph winds, so I'm a bit jittered over it, but my son, my daughter and my husband are with me here. We have food and water and we are 50 miles from the coast. I am expecting downed trees and wide spread power outages. Thanks so much for all your prayers and well wishes!
I love you all!
Linda

P.S. From Silke: I am posting this on Linda's behalf. She did not sign on this morning at our agreed upon time, so that means she is now without electricity. She will phone me via cell phone when the lines are clear and I will let you know via the forums how she is doing. When I talked to her last night she was fine, although a little nervous. She expected that, once the power was out, it would stay out for close to a week. She has sent me several pictures to upload daily on her behalf. The first is the one of the sunset on the night before the storm hit (yesterday). I will post it in the WS as per her request.
Many thanks and blessings to all who continue to keep sending her positive energies and/or keep her, her family, and all of her fellow citizens in their prayers.

Very lovely capture of this delicate skipper. I hope it will safely ride out the storm as I hope you and your family do too.
superb PP work here, with the subject nicely in focus and all of the surroundings attractively blurred

Linda & Silke - what a nice combination and act of friendship regardless of the miles, this is a fine example of what I see TL is about.
I guess Linda the contrast to this photo, would be to take another shot of the same location post storm.
Like your very narrow DOF in this, and fact that this appears to be the only colorful plant among the browns.
TFS to you both

Linda/Silke,
I love the composition of this picture. Nice detail with excellent DOF showing off this beautiful insect. The colors of the flowers are nice and look great against the green blurred BG. My family continues to pray for you and everyone else in the path of this major storm.
Regards,
Kevin

Linda,

50 miles from the coast?? OH MY GOSH!! I knew you were close, but not THAT close.

I'm keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers.

You have taken a lovely photo of the bright purple flowers against the green blurry background.

take care, Lisa

We will be waiting to hear that her power is back on and they are all safe. The WS of the sky is far more dramatic than anything I have seen on TV.

Linda, my thoughts are with you - and with the many who will be affected by this storm. I sat through typhoon Frank in the Philippines a couple of months ago and I know how terrifying, and devastating, these storms are.

All the best and come out fit and healthy on the other side, ok!!

The quiet before the storm, and the butterfly getting his top-up before the flowers are flattened by 'H Ike'.
You and all those in the threatened areas are in all our thoughts Linda. Enjoy the power break, and I hope there hasn't been too much damage to your property.

Picture is great!
But I'm concern if you are OK and your family, I saw already pictures from Huston and Galveston - just... scary !
I hope you'll respond to us ASAP, probably you have no electricity now but I'm thinking about news from you dear Linda. Stay safe:):):)
All the best for you - Tom

Hi Linda

Glad you're okay, & you all survived the storm. A BIG thankyou to 'silke', for uploading on your behalf, now that the power's off. Good use of a shallow dof, with excellent sharpness on the butterfly. Tfs!

Hi Linda
Wonderful shot my dear.Like a paiting.Lovely colours.
Thanks.
Friendly greetings

Quite possibly the best you have shown of this particular flower Linda. A lovely light and the detail just superb. TFS,
David

Excellent capture.
Excellent example of perfect DOF.
Pierre

PS: Heard you came through it all well. Good.

hi Linda

Great news to learn that you are fine at this time.

I pick this choice because it was taken while you were fighting the storm, showing how strong you are and just how attached to TL. It is a good example from a Texan.

I also find your previous post with its WS to be most encouraging. Really very fine posts. Take good care! tfs

p/s IMO, TL has been so valuable to you because of not just the photos and critiques, it is also very much about friends that you have made here along the way. Learning about photography and the world, EVERYDAY!

Hi Linda, fantastic composition with splendid butterfly and beautiful flower, wonderful light and colors, superb sharpness, very well done, ciao Silvio
