[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here is a second sunrise shot from Day 2 of my recent 7 week photography road trip. My previous shot here featured a tree trunk as a foreground anchor. I've received all sorts of feedback on the tree trunk so now I want to post a shot that features more of the reflection. What do you think?

Hello Mike,

You and Daniel, are a very talented duo, challenging each other very well in your quest for great photographs.

Hats off here for a superb landscape. I will need to look at the previous posts now (^_^). I miss so much great photos weekly. Great reflections indeed. Colors , sharpeness, DOF are just great.

Personnaly, I like to have an element in the foreground like you did on the other photo ( link of your note ) . Of course it is than trickier when it is time to work with the DOF.

Well done in both cases !

Robert

Mike,

Good exposure - keeping plenty of detail in the (large) areas of shadow. Effective.

Regards
Colin

Hi Mike,

great capture of a landscape with highly commendable qualities like those editors' choice of highly-rated photos in the magazines. a perfection at its very best!

Hi, Mark!

Great shot of this wonderful place. Reflection
is pretty good and colors are beautiful. Good
composition and well done job. Congratulations
and TFS!!

Greetings from Brazil,
Bruno

I like this shot but find it to be much more powerful with the tree trunk as in the previous image. Both have very nice light and good composition but I much more prefer the other shot.

Hi Mike
I'd call this two for the price of one. Personally I like something anchoring the FG. Your shoreline on the right does that in this one. Good job on your "ring of fire" on the peaks. This looks like you used Capture NX.

Dad

Very good sunrise shot here. I liked the symmetry you have maintained at right hand side top and bottom portion. Everything got captured in refelection, except the stones piled right side.

Hi Mike,
Thank you to immortalize this magnificent sunrise!
I like the simplicity of this composition with its perfect mirror effect. Great capture of the fire line on the top of mountains, this is an effective contrast with the deep blue colors.

hi mike, i guess this one i prefer only because the other i would like to see more foreground (if i am to see it i want more of it-ha-ha) but hey just my opinion everything is subjective!

bottom line is these both are wonderful images, they have amazing colors of blues and golds and also exposed well for the shadowed areas ,

the use of the n/grad filter is great, i wish more people would use them as i almost always have to use them to bring back what the eye sees, even with HDR
i prefer the filters (although some members are changing my mind on that-dan for one!)

thanks for your recent comments on my work,
scott from vancouver
