[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here is another shot from Bryce Canyon National Park. This one was strictly an experiment and I'm not sure how effective or interesting it is. So naturally, I've posted it to receive or not receive feedback.
The shot was taken while on the Navajo loop trial within the canyon at mid day. I had only the giant hoodoos to diffuse the sunshine. In order achieve the darkness I needed, the exposure compensation was adjusted to -4.0 EV at ISO400. This allowed the background to be exposed pretty well while darkening the foreground creating the "keyhole".
Let me know if this is an interesting idea or if you think it isn't. I'm very curious. Thanks!

Hello Mike,I can see what you were trying to achieve but imo there is too much blackness framing the rock formation and sky, and informs us of where we are.
The 'keyhole' loses definition at the bottom.
I think that it is an interesting idea.
Thanks for sharing.
Regards Jean.

This is a neat experiment Mike. It's very inspiring to try new approaches like this, when you are at these iconic locations.
I like the deep blue color of the sky, and the clouds are a nice touch.
Perhaps a lot more black than would be optimal, but then again,
that's the keyhole effect.
Well done for trying something different.
- Vincent

I think this is interesting Mike. Very different than the top views of the big canyons with shadows from the clouds overhead.
Somehow more light has to be let into the final picture to grab more attention onto the lovely geology. TFS. Karin
