The sun dips to the horizon amidst the low clouds along the western shore of Lake Winnebago last night, but not until after treating us to a half hour of amazing spectacle.
It was tough choosing a photo to upload, but the deciding factor for me in this one was the four gulls flying toward the sun (see if you can spot them!). I liked the touch of atmosphere it added.
This was first my first time out with a UV filter, a Sunpak 58 mm. I liked the results, and I tinkered a bit further on the PP -- one pass of The Gimp's light-and-shadows plug-in, cropping and sizing, a slight curves correction, a modest final pass of USM. The result is what I saw. |

This is a very attractive shot, a bit too blue for my taste. I would opt for a warmer tint. And about the UV filter, it makes no difference with digital cameras - they have a UV filter built-in. :)

Bonjour Jim,
Très beau coucher de soleil!
J'aime beaucoup la délicatesse des couleurs.
Les oiseaux dans le ciel renforcent l’envergure de la scène.
Compliments!
Michel.
