[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
During my 7 week photography trip this past summer one of my favorite stops was to Canyonlands National Park. It's not nearly as visited as its neighbor Arches NP but it should be. There are many awesome views and great hikes within the park and it certainly warrants a visit if you are in the area. One of the lesser known spots within the park is known as the False Kiva.
The False Kiva is not on any of the park maps but if you know how to get here it is definitely worth the effort. The view itself is amazing but it's the history that really makes this place special. If nothing else, you will gain an immense respect for the native people who lived in the Canyonlands region many years ago.

PP: Cropped to remove some of the sky. Adjusted light and shadow. Shooting from this location is difficult due to the lighting. I sacrificed some of the sky to maintain detail in the foreground. Gotta try a PS blend someday.

What a brilliant shot Mike!
I spent half a day in Canyonlands, most of which was pre dawn to Noon time. Didn't get to some of these lesser known treasures.
Your shot here makes me wish I had.
That view off int he distance is just breathtaking.

Stunning shot Mike. Excellent composition and good lighting. Excellent color, without oversaturation. The sky helps add to the overall grand atmosphere.
